4 Stay Home Easy Recipes Everyone can Make

There is an easier way to enjoy delicious, healthy yet simple meals which you can simply prepare from the comfort of your home!

COVID-19 had us staying in more than we usually do as #workfromhome, #homebasedlearning and islandwide social distancing mandates continues. It is the perfect opportunity to pick up new tips and tricks on making cooking easier and fuss free. We have 4 simple and great beginner level recipes that get you started on your cooking journey that is easy simple and pleases everyone in the house.

1. Potato and Carrot Soup

Nutritious goodness!



Soups are the easiest to make for a beginner in the kitchen! However, what puts off many is the preparation and washing. In just 20 minutes, you can whip up a comforting hot soup that makes a great side dish or as a main.

It is as simple as: 1. Add ingredients, 2. Pour water, 3. Let it boil!


  • 3 medium potatoes, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 yellow onions, finely chopped
  • 1 chicken cube
  • 1.2L Water


  • Cheddar cheese
  • Black Pepper 

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 20 mins
Serves: 5

  1. Prep the vegetables: dice potatoes, carrots and chop onions
  2. Place all vegetables in jug
  3. Fill jug with water until it reaches 1.2L mark
  4. Add in a cube of chicken stock.
  5. Seal with the jug cover and press On
  6. Select Smooth Soup setting and let it cook for 20 minutes.
  7.  Serve with cheese and black pepper as desired.

Pro Tip: Make juice, smoothie or salad dressing too!

2. Strawberry Ice Cream Smoothie

A treat for your kids!

  • 6 strawberries, sliced
  • 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup of cold milk


  • Granola
  • Peanut butter


Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 1 min
Serves: 1

In just 5 simple steps, you are good to go:

  1. Wash and cut strawberries into small pieces
  2. Place strawberries, milk, and vanilla ice cream in blender cup.
  3. Seal the base on the blender cup firmly.
  4. Press and hold Power button for 2s to power on, double-press Power button to start blending.
  5. Once completed, serve in a bowl and garnish with granola and peanut butter as desired.


Pro Tip #1: Remove the base and replace it with travel cup lid.

Pro Tip #2: Gently shake the blender during blending process for a consistent blend.

3. Air Fryer Roast Chicken

Perfect, juicy Roast Chicken without using oil!



Air frying is a great way to achieve crispy crunchy exterior, similar taste and texture as deep frying, while using lesser (or no) oil, producing food that have a significantly lower fat content.  It is an incredibly efficient appliance as it can be used not only for frying, but also for other various cooking methods such as roasting, baking and grilling – all without using oil.  In addition, minimal cleaning up!


  • 1 whole chicken, giblets removed
  • 1 stalk spring onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • ½  ginger, sliced
  • 1 cup soya sauce
  • 1 cup white pepper
  • 1 cup rice wine

Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 30 mins
Marinade: 30 mins
Serves: 4

  1. Prep seasoning: pound spring onions to bring out fragrance, crush garlic cloves, combine spring onions, ginger and rice wine and massage over whole chicken exterior. Place the seasoning and garlic inside chicken cavity. Seal opening with toothpick.
  2. Prep marinate: rub soya sauce and white pepper over whole chicken exterior and let it sit for an hour.
  3. Preheat air fryer for 5 mins.
  4. Place marinated chicken in fry basket.
  5.  Set time for 20 mins at 180 degrees.
  6.  Flip chicken every 5 mins to ensure even roast on both sides.
  7.  After 20 mins, chicken will be nicely browned and cooked through. Serve with vegetables as desired.


Pro Tip: #1 Check for doneness with a toothpick or knife. If juices run clear, chicken is done. If you see rosy pink colour, it needs more time.

Pro Tip: #2 Change it up! Try Garlic Herb or Lemon & Garlic, or use chicken wings instead.

4. Easy Baked Kimchi Rice

Easy meal for lazy days

Serves: 2

  1. In a bowl, mix kimchi, salt, sesame oil and cheddar cheese.
  2. Add in cooked white rice and mix well
  3. Lined pork stripes over mixed rice and add pepper as desired
  4. Top with remaining cheddar cheese.
  5. Preheat oven for 5 minutes before baking for 30 minutes at 180 degrees.
